Mayan Ook Catalogue
These are images I shot for the Mayan Ook project, the cool fair trade ankle accessory made by Mayan women on the Yucatan peninsula, which I talked about in this post. We had a wonderful location and a great day in Quintana Roo with three local girls who were not professional models, yet did a great job following my instructions, sitting in uncomfortable poses for as long as was necessary, soaking in chilly cenote water and changing their looks very rapidly, from beach to casual to dressing up, demonstrating various outfits that Mayan Ook looks good with. › Continue reading
Portrait: Ian
I’m still sorting through my archives, pulling out and publishing old photoshoots. This one happened in the summer of 2010 and included two people, who took their turns being a model. Today I’m publishing a couple of Ian’s pictures. Cindy’s turn will be next.

Federica’s Maternity Shoot
This was my first photoshoot here in San Cristobal de las Casas. Fede is not only beautiful and stylish, but she’s also a lot of fun! I’m sure she will be a wonderful mother to her soon-to-be-born baby. During the shoot I tried to not only capture her character, but also to portray a little bit of the vibe of our town. › Continue reading
Chanchen: Modern Mayan Village
In our first month here in Mexico we met an amazing woman named Yara, who told us the fascinating story of her project, an ankle accessory called Mayan Ook. She moved here to Playa del Carmen from Mexico city, where she was a successful lawyer, and got an idea to support and empower women in local secluded Mayan communities. These villages are very small, and men normally have to leave home to find work › Continue reading
Events: Eivan’s Birthday Party
This party was every kid’s dream: sunny day, swimming pool, Sponge Bob trampoline, lots of friends, great snacks, Spiderman piñata and Spiderman cake… This birthday party was also a photographer’s dream: when kids are busy having fun, it’s a great place to catch some amazing shots that are much harder to get without the genuine fun. The first shot also shows the location – this shoot also happened in Puerto Aventuras.

Family: Betzabhe & Anthony
This was a fantastic shoot of a fun beautiful mom and her very dreamy, shy and no less beautiful son. Watch out, girls, when he grows up, you’ll remember my words! )) This photoshoot also happened in Puerto Aventuras in January. We explored a beautiful beach, had some fun at Bamboo cafe and then at the school playground. This photoshoot lasted for 3 hours, and I was really happy it did, it is my favorite duration, and here’s why.

Portrait Session: Stella
This photoshoot happened also when we first moved to Puerto Aventuras… We met and befriended Stella in the local cafe called Bamboo, where we were drinking juices and soy lattes all day while working on our laptops and waiting for internet installation at home. Stella is from Argentina, as is her newlywed husband Andres, but they moved here to Rivera Maya and are enjoying their connection to Mexico. I’ll be sharing their wedding photos here soon as well.

Self-Portraits
I love self-portraits! And I do them so rarely, because, just as most people in the world, I am camera-shy (at least at first). However, this way I can test out new techniques without torturing another living being.

Sofia & Emiliano
This was a wonderful shoot! The idea arose spontaneously, the same day, and we didn’t have a lot of time, but we did explore a few side-streets off Playa del Carmen’s Fifth Avenue and had a great deal of fun!
